Winter Boost project video
Please watch our Network of Kindness video about the Winter Boost project, which supplemented 13,800 food parcels with extra fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs and tinned fish.
As we continue to pray and campaign for an end to the food insecurity crisis, we invite you to give thanks for all the volunteers, partners and funders who made it possible to boost the vitamin and mineral intake of the most vulnerable households in Liverpool, during the harshest months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Co-ordinated by our partners Feeding Liverpool, the project boosted every food bank parcel distributed by North Liverpool foodbank, South Liverpool foodbank and Micah Liverpool, for six months from November 2020 - April 2021.
The parcels reached 4,249 households in Liverpool from November 2020 to April 2021- that’s 12,832 people, 4,321 of whom are children.
This video and testimonials were produced as part of Together Liverpool's National Lottery Community Fund funded Network of Kindness initiative.
Dr Naomi Maynard, Feeding Liverpool Coordinator and Together Liverpool's Food Insecurity Lead said: "Whilst it is a disgrace that this project was needed, I am so very proud of the way community organisations, the City Council and national funders pulled together to support those in our city experiencing acute food crises during the harshest months of the pandemic. It is vital that we continue to work together, improving access to food for those in crisis whilst also addressing the reasons why so many families found themselves needing support this year"
The Winter Boost Project was funded by Food Power for Generation Covid, Feeding Britain, Liverpool City Council Winter Grant and Together Liverpool.
Join the Plenty to Share campaign
Together Liverpool invite you to support the Plenty to Share movement, calling for policies to end the “unconscionable problems of poverty and food waste” in the UK.
We are proud to be signatories of the Food Abundance and Equality Declaration alongside nearly 40 organisations at the forefront of UK food aid and surplus food redistribution, including Greenpeace, Feeding Britain, Friends of the Earth, and our local partners Feeding Liverpool.
The declaration, which is the manifesto for the campaign, calls for systemic solutions to the problems of food waste and poverty, to ensure everyone has enough to eat, and food is produced fairly and sustainably.
